Biography:	Manfred Schiefer was born in Bremen, Germany in 1948. He graduated from Berufsschule, Bremen, Germany in 1968. He started his career in the cotton industry as an apprentice with a German Cotton Importer in the Bremen Cotton Exchange. In 1968 he began working for H. Molsen and Co., Inc., Dallas, Texas traveling for an extended time in Mexico, Central and South America, the Far East and Europe. In 1987 he founded M. Schiefer Trading Co., of Lubbock, TX. His involvement in the cotton industry includes service as President of Dallas Cotton Exchange and the President of Texas Cotton Association. Manfred is a Past President of American Cotton Shippers Association; serves on the Board of Directors of American Cotton Shippers Association and the National Cotton Council; he is a Merchant Delegate to the National Cotton Council; Past President of Lubbock Cotton Exchange; serves as lecture faculty at the Texas International Cotton School. He serves on the Advisory Board of Texas Tech University International Textile Center; Board of Directors, Wells Fargo Bank, Lubbock Texas. He has served on the Board of Directors All Saints Episcopal School, Lubbock, Texas and the Salvation Army, Lubbock, Texas Chapter. He is a member of Bremen Cotton Exchange, Lubbock Cotton Exchange and Lubbock Executive Association. Married to Merlene for 32 years, and has a son, Thomas, and daughter, Julie. He enjoys boating and fishing.
